Current Positions at SBA

Energy Planning/Project Coordinator – Orangeville Location

SBA is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Community Energy Plan (CEP) team. The Applicant should be a graduate of an environmental, building science or technology program with at least three (3) years of relevant experience in Canada. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, have exceptional communication skills and be willing to travel throughout Ontario to visit communities, collect data, and present findings to clients and community members.

Responsibilities 

  • Working with First Nation communities to develop an energy management plan.
  • Data management, input and analysis.
  • Technical report writing and data analysis through Microsoft Office and other energy-related software.
  • Organize and attend community and project meetings related to the ACEP project.
  • Present results at client and community meetings.
  • General administrative and office management duties.

Skills Required 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel to remote communities.
  • Experience completing buildings energy audits is preferred.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and organize large amounts of data/information.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in the Renewable Energy Sector an asset but not required.

Additional Information

We are looking for a team member a minimum of three (3) years of experience in consulting engineering, renewable energy and/or community outreach. Knowledge and experience completing energy audits or experience in the renewable energy sector would be considered an asset. Exceptional communication skills and a willingness to travel is required.

Senior Inspector/Contract Administrator – Orangeville or Orillia Location

SBA is looking for a dynamic individual for senior inspection and contract administration duties.  Applicant will be a graduate of an engineering technology program preferably in a civil, construction or process mechanical environments with at least eight (8) years of hands-on construction experience in Canada.

The individual must be a self-starter, have strong organizational and communication skills in the coordination of multiple projects.  This position will have a high-level of accountability and responsibility that typically accompanies the role.  Must be willing to travel throughout Northern and Southern Ontario in-order to oversee First Nation and municipal projects as needed.  This may include extended travel (1-2) weeks in duration.  This position is open for our Orangeville or Orillia office locations.

Qualifications: 

  • College diploma/degree in the field of civil / construction engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to deal.
  • Sound knowledge of Ontario design standards and guidelines (i.e.: OPS/CCDC).
  • Solid understanding and importance of project deadlines and budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Senior inspection and contract administration.
  • Preparation of site reports, payment certificates, change orders, instructions and other contract related duties.
  • Provide senior field inspection for a variety of projects including: (water/wastewater treatment process upgrades, water & sewer installation, road construction, building and foundation construction, etc.).
  • Oversee material testing (soil, compaction, concrete, etc.).

Field Inspector – Orangeville or Orillia Location

SBA is looking for a dynamic individual for field inspection duties.  Applicant will be a graduate of a civil engineering technology program or equivalent qualification with at least three (3) years’ construction experience in Canada.  Individual must be a self-starter, have strong organizational and communication skills and be willing to travel throughout Northern and Southern Ontario in order to oversee First Nation and municipal projects. This may include extended travel of 1‑2 weeks in duration.  This position is open for both our Orangeville or Orillia office locations.

SBA is looking for a talented individual to join our growing civil design team. The applicant will have a strong technical background in process mechanical and civil engineering related projects.  The successful applicant will effectively assist engineers and senior technical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum 2- to 3-year College Engineering Technician / Technology Diploma.
  • Canadian consulting engineering experience with minimum 5 years core AutoCAD design.
  • Strong technical skills with good verbal communication.
  • Will be proficient and have proven experience using Auto CAD, Civil 3D, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Must be a disciplined self-starter and work within project timelines on schedule and on budget.
  • Must be familiar with the construction industry related to civil and mechanical process engineering.
  • Good understanding of engineering specifications and contract documentation.
