Project Description:
SBA was contacted by a resident of Caledon Village to perform a septic system analysis for their home. The homeowners were proposing to add an addition above their garage, and needed to determine if their current septic system could tolerate the addition. However, the size of the existing septic system was unknown.
Due to the fact that the size of the existing septic system was unknown, field work was required to investigate the entire septic system. This included determining the location and size of the existing tank and tile field by the push rod method and exposing the corners of the field.
Once the dimensions of the existing septic system were determined, SBA calculated the capacity of the existing septic system and the capacity required once the addition is complete. The required septic system sizing for the addition was based on the number of fixture units within the proposed addition and the Ontario Building Code suggested flow rates.
Once we had the capacity of the existing septic system and the required capacity with the addition, we were able to determine if the existing facilities could accommodate the addition.
