Project Description:

S. Burnett & Associates Limited (SBA) has been retained by Naicatchewenin First Nation (NFN) to provide professional engineering services for the detailed design of a new water treatment plant (WTP). The existing water treatment system is non-compliant as it does not provide adequate treatment for the raw water source, and it has reached the end of its 20-year design life. The proposed WTP is required by the First Nation community to provide potable water and fire protection to support the anticipated growth of the community.

A Water Supply and Treatment Feasibility Study commissioned by NFN was completed in October 2011. The outcome of this study recommended the design and construction of a new water treatment. With this information, SBA has prepared a design for the new WTP which will provide a reliable and cost-effective drinking water solution that complies with or exceeds Federal and Provincial Regulations while meeting the long- term needs of the community. Construction began in April 2020.
